OPEN RECORDS REQUESTS / INFORMATION
***EFFECTIVE 6/1/26 - We have updated our procedure for requesting open records. To submit a new request pertaining to incidents, accidents, or dispatch related matters, please use the link below.
Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office Open Records Portal
Once a request is submitted, you'll be provided with a tracking/ID number. This number can be used in the portal to check the status of your request moving forward. Any requests made prior to 6/1/26 are still in process, but are not tracked in our new system.
In Person or Mailed Record Requests:
Open records requests can be made at the Sheriff’s Office between the hours of 8:00 a.m. & 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday (excluding Holidays), or by mailing the request to:

For requests by mail/in-person - we ask the requestor to please attempt to include the incident date, approximate time, case number, any involved person or investigating deputy, and contact information for the requestor in case we have any questions during processing.
TO OBTAIN CRASH REPORTS
**Effective July 1, 2016, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office is digitizing its crash reports through a partnership with the Carfax Police Crash Assistance Program. The reports are stored electronically in a secure database and are available for purchase online at http://crashdocs.org.
Typical requests include accident reports, incident reports, individual contact records, photographs, audiotapes, CD’s and DVD’s. Records can be picked up at the Sheriff’s Office or mailed to the requestor. Pre-payment is appreciated for each request based on the following fees:
Paper Copy $0.02 per page
CD/DVD $0.50 each
USB $4.50 each
Effective 7/19/19 - we no longer accept personal checks for payment.
We accept cash, money order and business checks or credit/debit cards for payments.

For Driver’s License records or Vehicle Registration records, you must complete a Vehicle/Driver Record Information Request form and mail it to:

Criminal History Checks
For Criminal History Records, you must complete a Criminal History Record Request form and mail to:
