On Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 4:00am, the City of Fond du Lac Police Department received a call from the owner of a 2009 Chevy Impala that had just been stolen from an address in the City of Fond du Lac. The owner of the vehicle was able to provide officers with a direction of travel of his stolen vehicle.

A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy saw the vehicle being driven on 10th street minutes after it had been reported stolen. The driver of the vehicle immediately began driving erratically upon the presence of the Sheriff’s squad car, and at that time the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspect vehicle led police on a short pursuit before crashing into a tree at the intersection of 4th Street and Fond du Lac Ave.

The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle fled on foot from the crash scene. He was apprehended by the City of Fond du Lac Police and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies after a police K9 track was conducted.

The driver was identified as a 16 year old male from the City of Fond du Lac. He is being charged with knowingly fleeing an officer, operate a vehicle without owner’s consent, and obstructing an officer. The driver was uninjured due to the crash and there were no injuries to law enforcement during the incident. The pursuit spanned a total distance of .08 miles.
